Was telling my daughter who was born 10 years after Kapil stopped playing in 1994, why KAPIL IS THE BEST CRICKETER EVER from India, even better than Tendulkar Gavaskar Pataudi Dhoni Kohli Kumble Dravid etc. Why?

1. He won World cup as Captain like Dhoni. But 28 years before Dhoni.

2. He attacked the mightiest teams like Windies Aussies both with bat and ball ruthlessly. More aggressive than Virat Kohli.

3. He played in an era if GREAT allrounders as contemporaries from Hadlee, Botham, Imran Khan but he ended up being the best among all AND CAPTAINED the team.

4. He is the only player in test cricket to have achieved the quadruple record of 400 wickets and 4000 test runs. None if his contemporaries did it. That's why he is in ICC hall if fame.

5. He played for 16 years (1978 to 1994) mind you as a leading fast bowler without any major injury. He carried the hopes of 1 billion Indians as the ONLY strike bowler in a team of batsmen.

6. He was the world record holder both in TEST AND ODI when he was in the peak for highest number of wickets 

7. He had over 160 dismissals by fielding alone.

8. Never ever been Run-out. EVER 

9. He played Tests like ODI. AND ODI like T20.



LASTLY. In 1983 when India was struggling with violence from Punjab to Assam, when as a country we had no great achievements, he showed we can be WORLD BEATERS with his motley crew fondly called Kapils Devils and  

He inspired an entire country and generation to dream and achieve big and become WORLD BEATERS.

Beautiful Barcelona

BEAUTIFUL BARCELONA  Feb 2025 This month I was in Barcelona Spain. Its such a beautiful world city. A few things make this place special. . Mountains meet the Mediterranean Sea  . Nice beaches . Wide, clean roads for walking . Architecture from Roman times to now . Sagrada Familia Basilica, the museum and Park Guell filled with Antoni Gaudis works. Simply breath taking stuff. . Excellence in public transportation. I stayed for 4cdays. 2 days i was using only metro, bus, tram and hop on and off bus. . City of immigrants from north Africa, west and south Asia, north and western Europe. . Lovely food. Even a vegetarian like me had several great options. And the cheese varieties and fruits of Mediterranean like oranges peaches and grapes  . A sporting culture. I witnessed the Barcelona marathon last Sunday.
