Dream teams

In business or in sports have you been part of Dream teams? Dream teams dominate thier domain in results. have great camaraderie. and are remembered a long time, even after many decades for thier legacy.

Did you know, for 28 years, 7 consecutive olympics from 1928 India won the field hockey gold. In 1935, cricket legend Don Bradman met hockey legend Dhyan Chand for the first time and watched him play for the Indian side that beat South Australia 10-1. "You score goals like runs in cricket," Bradman said to Chand after the match. Chand, who was born on August 29, 1905, won three Olympic gold medals with India. His team of 1928 to 1936 was the original Dream Team. In 1936, India beat Germany, 8-1 in olympics before Adolf Hitler in the stands at Berlin and showed how Brown men from India proved Hitlers White Aryan Supremacy theory wrong. Later in the same Olympic games Legend Jesse Owen's did it again. People of color can be world beaters given the right opportunities. Proved again and again in olympics from Mohd Ali to Carl Lewis to Jackie Joyner to Usain Bolt. Later Pele and the Brazilian National soccer team was considered the Dream Team in sports.

Very few teams had such dominance in the Olympic games. Perhaps USA team for basketball after NBA allowed professionals in 1990s is in a similar league. They have won and continue to win Gold in every Olympics for many olympics in a row. And the 1992 team was called the "Dream Team" led by Michael Jordan with likes of Magic Johnson and Larry Bird in it.

To be part of such great dream teams would have been an honor by itself.

Amazing Japan. Was fortunate to see the Sakura - Cherry blossom tree bloom with flowers this month in Japan. As a marketer I'm fascinated by stories told by brands about thier heritage.  MERCEDES BENZ   Do you know How Mercedes Benz got its name? How they got thier 3 pointed star logo? What Tiny Kerala can teach rest of India?

I love a lot of things about Kerala and Keralites/Malayalis. They are entrepreneurial, energetic, hyper.clean, can find them around the globe from Hawaii to Haifa. Some of my best friends from school days till date are Malayalis. And for a thousands of years Tamil nadu and Kerala had same kings and common culture under Pallavas, Cheras, Cholas and Pandyas. There are many things, the Tiny state of Kerala can teach rest of India. The thing I admire most is religious diversity tolerance. The state has roughly 55% Hindus 25% Muslims and 20% Christians. The state is perhaps the best model for all other states of India and perhaps even the world on religious tolerance.  Kerala has religious diversity antiquity and tolerance like no other place. Let me explain antiquity part. . For Hindus.
